Homemade Facial Scrubs

If you want to get rid of your blemishes and keep your face clean and clear, scrubs are your best bet. But no, take some extra effort more than picking a bottle at the store by making your own. Homemade facial scrubs are as effective and since they are created with natural ingredients, you can attest to their safety. They are also pretty low-cost because you will be using ingredients that are readily available in your pantry or anywhere else at home.

Toothpaste and salt

This is one of the most basic facial scrubs you could make from scratch. You simply need to squeeze out a tablespoon of fluoride toothpaste and mix it with a teaspoon of salt. After mixing the two ingredients well, you may massage it onto your face in circular motion, leave on for 10 minutes, rinse with warm water, and pat dry with a clean cloth. Voila! Your skin gets exfoliated in an instant.

Sugar and oil

Another favorite among the many homemade facial scrubs you can make is sugar mixed with your favorite massage oil. After creating a paste from sugar and some fragrant oil from olive, grape seed, or jojoba, you can scrub it onto your face to flake off dead skin cells, then rinse and dry your face as usual.

Oatmeal and honey

Oatmeal is a natural and gentle exfoliant. When mixed with honey, it becomes an instant scrub that will help your skin cells get lively to show off a clear complexion. If honey is not available, you may substitute it with either buttermilk or yoghurt to get the same effects.

Blueberry and honey

To make a fruity exfoliant, mix one-half cup of fresh blueberries with two tablespoons of honey and another two tablespoons of sugar. Blend the ingredients on the food processor to make a smooth paste, which you can readily apply onto your face for a clear and smooth difference.

Honey

Honey is a very popular beauty ingredient. It is anti-inflammatory and anti-infection. It could help clear your skin with imperfections if you use it daily as it is or mixed with other exfoliating ingredients such as sugar, oatmeal, coffee grounds, and the like.

Baking Soda

Just like honey, baking soda is another wonder ingredient that you can use to scrub off dead skin cells and help your face rejuvenate. Have a daily rub of good quality baking soda ready and you will have an instant scrub that is not harsh to your skin or to your purse. Many expensive commercial scrubs use baking soda as a main ingredient. You must take your cue from there.
